Information About The Program

The aim of the Real Estate Development Master's program, which was started in İTÜ in the Fall semester of 2001, to provide an education that real estate investments, which constitute a significant part of economic investments, are evaluated within the framework of the economic interests of both the investor and the country. The rapid urbanization tendency that will continue in the future in Turkey creates a very dynamic real estate market in cities. This situation increases the importance of the issue and the need for trained staff in the market. Therefore, this program provides graduate education on real estate finance, marketing, appraisal and law to the staff trained in different disciplines such as urbanism, architecture, engineering, business and economy. This program, which first opened at Istanbul Technical University in Turkey, there is an important function to meet the high demand in this area. The Real Estate Development Master's program as an interdisciplinary program, is composed of faculty members from business, architecture, engineering, law and urbanism programs.

Program Educational Objectives

The purpose of the MSc program Real Estate Development that started the education in Fall semester of 2001 at ITU is to meet the need for trained manpower in the field of real estate development in the process of rapid urbanization and transformation of the cities that will continue in the years ahead, to meet with pioneering and qualified education, to encourage the production of information on this area, and to maintain its reputation as a respected program.





Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.

ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 58 - Courses in graduate programs shall be evaluated according to the following grading system.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.


Internship

There is no internship in this program.


Graduation Requirements

At least 3.00 GPA is required for graduation in Msc program and the seminar course and dissertation must be successfully completed. At least 24 credits in total must be taken in the program together with all compulsory courses and elective courses.

Due to the failure or the maximum number of students, the procedures for disengaging the student from the University shall be carried out in accordance with the "Regulations for Graduate Education and Training" issued by the Council of Higher Education dated 20.04.2016 numbered 29690 and the regulations issued by the University.
