The change and turn in the maritime industry requires the managers working in this field to be equipped with different competencies. Expectations in the field of efficiency, operational efficiency, environmental awareness, safety culture and widespread social responsibility are increasing day by day in the maritime field. At the same time, increasing technological opportunities in ships, shipyards, ports and terminals need to be expanded and managed. Considering these factors, an increasing need for new generation managerial competencies is foreseen in maritime organizations.

Maritime Business Administration is a bachelor's program aiming to educate competent individuals in global maritime and shipping industries, focusing on ship management, ship financing or brokerage, maritime law, logistics and supply chain management. The program aims to produce graduates who can identify and solve maritime management problems by applying principles of management sciences. These individuals are equipped to meet the needs of maritime stakeholders, while also being aware of professional and ethical responsibilities in maritime management practices, and can analyze and interpret data. Graduates of this program can hold positions in both private and public sectors related to maritime, transportation, logistics, foreign trade, and maritime tourism. In the maritime sector, they can work in various fields such as: Ship operators,Transport agents,Ship agents,Ship brokers,Transportation contractors,Ship provision and supply businesses, Maritime insurance companies,Ports and terminals,Yacht and marina operations,Employment in shipyards. Moreover, they can take on middle and upper level managerial roles in international trade and logistics companies and work in the public sector within the maritime ministries and/or affiliated institutions of countries, as well as other ministries and state institutions related to maritime.

Program Learning Environments
The Maritime Business Administration Undergraduate Program provides various learning environments where students can reinforce their theoretical knowledge through practical applications. Within the scope of the program, educational activities are carried out through classrooms, laboratories, simulation centers, computer laboratories, library facilities, internship practices, and applied training conducted in cooperation with the maritime sector.
The theoretical courses of the program are conducted in classrooms equipped with modern educational technologies. In these courses, teaching methods such as presentations, discussions, group work, and project-based learning are used to encourage active participation of students. In addition, computer-assisted educational tools are integrated into the course processes in order to improve students’ professional knowledge and skills.
Since practice plays a crucial role in maritime education, simulation-supported learning environments are also included in the program. Through ship bridge simulators and navigation planning systems, students have the opportunity to receive training in environments similar to real operational conditions. In this way, students gain practical experience in areas such as navigation safety, ship management, cargo operations, and emergency management.
The university library provides access to a wide range of printed and electronic resources in the fields of maritime studies, maritime transportation, and management. Students can access up-to-date information through academic databases, e-books, journals, and research reports. In addition, online learning platforms and digital course materials support students’ learning processes.
One of the important learning environments of the program is sectoral practice. Through compulsory internships and field practices, students have the opportunity to gain experience on ships. During this process, students apply their theoretical knowledge in real working environments and improve their professional competencies.
All these learning environments are planned to support students in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and competencies required in the maritime transportation and management sector.

Program Educational Objectives
With the Maritime Business Management program, it is aimed to train relevant managers with an interdisciplinary perspective towards the maritime industry, which has entered the transformation process.
Measurement and Evaluation
Student success is evaluated in consideration of Articles 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25 of the Istanbul Technical University Undergraduate Education and Training Regulation.

Program Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the program are employed in the relevant institutions of both the private and public sectors related to Maritime, Transport, Logistics and Foreign Trade. In the private sector; they are employed in ship owners/enterprises, ship management companies, freight forwarders (ship agents, ship brokers, transportation contractors), ship stores and supply companies, marine insurance companies, ports and terminals, yacht and marina businesses, shipyards, banks, foreign trade businesses, as middle and senior managers in institutions such as logistics enterprises. In the public sector, they are employed in administrative positions in the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of the Republic of Turkey and its affiliates and other relevant ministries and government institutions
