Information About The Program

In today's world the systems producing goods and and generating services are getting more sophisticated. The establishment, management, development and enhancing these systems are posing challenges. The biggest factor in this development is the rise in the selectivity of the customers and the need to add new features to the goods and services due to customer demand. The production facilities are affected from this development and equipped with high technology. The technology helps the rise of quality, lowering the costs and the speeding up the process of offering the goods to the customers. It is possible to say that the businesses which lack the developing technology will lack the competitiveness. Examples to the developments in advanced technology can be given in different fields such as MRI scans in medicine, computer integrated manufacturing in flexible manufacturing systems and networks and software in all goods and services manufacturing systems.

One should recognize the importance of integration of the above mentioned advanced technology systems with the existing structure in the enterprise, of human factor (compatibility, communication, team work, problem solving skills by using the new technology), of adaptation of the new technology (adaptation to the existing systems or the technical or organizational problems caused by the replacement of the systems) and especially of the transformation in the corporate culture. The elimination of these problems can only be achieved by individuals who have the skills to use, integrate and embrace such advanced technology. The current program which is designed to fulfill the needs of the country for trained personnel, is addressed to all professionals.

Program Educational Objectives

The key for institutional and individual success in the 21st century lies with the development, management and the use of technology efficiently. The objective of the program is to make sure that the employees embrace general principles in planning, acquiring, using, analyzing, developing the advanced technology and to equip them with managerial skills in relation to the above mentioned aspects. Other objectives of the program is to address all professionals having all kinds of university backgrounds and enhance cooperation with universities from other countries.


Measurement and Evaluation

Evaluating Student Success
The student success is evaluated considering Articles 56, 57, 58, and 59 of the Istanbul Technical University Graduate Education and Training Regulation Senate Principles.

ARTICLE 56 - Before the enrollment for the courses begins, the faculty member who offers the course informs the Program Executive Committee about the types, number and contribution percentage to the final grade of the studies within the semester, as well as requirements for a right to take the semester final exam. These requirements shall be finalized by approval of the Program Executive Committee and approval of the chair of the department, who declares them to the student and informs the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 57 - A student may appeal the final grade of a course within one week following the announcement of the grades. Appeals must be submitted to the Graduate School in writing. The relevant faculty member shall re-evaluate the student's success status and submit the result to the Graduate School within one week. Appeals not submitted within the prescribed time frame shall not be considered by the Graduate School.

ARTICLE 58 - Courses in graduate programs shall be evaluated according to the following grading system.

ARTICLE 59 - Students who wish to improve their cumulative grade point average may retake courses during the course-taking period. The most recent grade will be counted for the repeated courses.


Internship

There is no internship in this program.


Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the Business and Technology Management Program, students must pass 10 of the courses included in the course plan with a grade of at least CC, within the specified time, and have a weighted grade point average of at least 3.00 out of 4. they need to be successful. At least 3 of these 10 courses must be chosen from the Technology Field compulsory course group. At least 3 of these 10 courses must be selected from the compulsory courses in the field of Business Administration. Students can choose the rest of the 10 courses from electives. Students choose these courses according to the direction of the Program Executive Board. Students must also complete noncredit project course to graduate.
